Who we are

Austin Westbury operates Better Baby, an iPhone app for parents and caregivers. Email support@better-baby.app with any question about this policy or your information.

What the app keeps

• Your sign-in identifier and email address. Sign in with Apple can give us an Apple relay address instead of your own.
• Your child's name, date of birth, feeding stage and how they're fed, plus allergies, foods to avoid, diet, textures and your family's routine.
• Plans, meal choices, custom meals and completed activities, and any feeding, sleep, growth, milestone or photo records you save.
• Your answers to setup questions, such as your goals, parenting and food style, budget and how you heard about Better Baby.
• Messages you send to Saple and its replies, if you use chat.
• Subscription status and identifiers. Apple handles payment. We never see your card number.
• Technical records needed to run the service, such as request times, errors, account identifiers and app version.

We use this to run your account and plans, personalize suggestions, answer support requests, manage subscriptions, enforce usage limits and fix problems. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.

Services we use

• Supabase handles sign-in and stores app records.
• Heroku hosts our servers.
• Apple takes payment. RevenueCat keeps your subscription status and purchase history, linked to your account ID.
• Expo delivers app updates and notifications.
• PostHog receives product analytics. The next section says what it gets.
• Porkbun forwards email sent to our support address.

These services may process information in the United States and other countries, under their own privacy policies.

Product analytics

We use PostHog to see which parts of Better Baby people use, where setup loses them and whether subscriptions last. PostHog processes this data for us and stores it on servers in the United States.

PostHog receives, linked to your account ID:

• The screens you open and actions such as finishing an activity, marking a meal made, swapping a meal or sending a message to Saple. For Saple it records only that you sent a message, never what it said.
• Your progress through setup, including how long each screen took, and your answers about goals, challenges, parenting and food style, budget and how you heard about us.
• Broad details about your children: how many, an age range such as 3 to 6 months, and feeding stage.
• Whether your subscription is active, the plan you pick and whether a purchase or restore worked. RevenueCat also sends PostHog your subscription events, such as a trial start, purchase, renewal, cancellation or failed payment, with the product, price, currency and store.
• Whether you allowed notifications, the app version and build, and the platform.

PostHog never receives your name or email, or your child's name, birth date, gender, allergies, foods you avoid, vegetarian or vegan diet, logs, measurements, photos, meals or Saple messages. The app checks each event against a fixed list before sending it and drops anything not on the list.

Screen recording, automatic tap tracking and crash reporting are off. PostHog doesn't store your IP address and doesn't look up your location. When we test two versions of a screen, PostHog records which one you saw.

Before you sign in, events carry a random ID stored on your iPhone. Signing in joins them to your account ID, and signing out ends the link on that device.

We don't sell your information or share it for advertising. The app contains no advertising SDKs and doesn't use Apple's advertising identifier, so we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.

PostHog keeps analytics events for up to seven years under our plan. Deleting your account doesn't remove them automatically. They stay linked to an account ID that no longer connects to your email or anything else we hold. You can turn analytics off at any time in the app under Settings, Privacy & data, Share usage analytics. The app then stops sending events from that device. To have analytics we already hold deleted, email support@better-baby.app and we'll delete what PostHog holds about your account.

Saple and other AI features

Saple chat and custom-meal entry use OpenRouter to reach Google's Gemini model. The app asks before sending anything. Chat then sends your message, recent conversation, your child's age and the names of planned meals. It doesn't send your child's name, gender, milestones or logs. Custom-meal entry sends the description you type and the meal type.

Requests go only to Google Vertex endpoints that OpenRouter lists as keeping no data, with data collection for training denied. Read OpenRouter's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy. Meal planning and nutrition don't use AI.

How long we keep it, and your choices

We keep your records while you have an account. You can edit your child's profile and delete Saple conversations in the app. To get a copy of your information or correct it, email support@better-baby.app.

You can delete your account in the app at any time. That removes your account and app records. Analytics work differently, as described above. Copies may remain in backups and technical logs for a limited time, and we keep records the law requires or that we need to resolve payment disputes. For accounts that use Sign in with Apple, we also revoke the Apple sign-in.

You can turn photo and notification access on or off in your iPhone settings. Cancelling a subscription is separate from deleting your account.

Children

Better Baby is for adults managing information about children in their care. Children can't have their own accounts. Information about a child comes from you, not from the child, and we use it to build your plans. The only details about a child that reach analytics are the age range, feeding stage and number of children described above. If you think a child has given us information without an adult, email us and we'll delete it.

When our practices change, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
